What is the Instant Cold Pack?

This instant ice bag is perfect when quick, immediate cold therapy is required. They are ideal to keep pitch side in your First Aid Kit.

When dealing with an injury, Cold Therapy is vital to help the recovery process. Applying cold will help reduce the pain and inflammation to the injured area.

How do I use the Instant Cold Pack?

To use press the small water bag inside until it bursts and shake. The ingredients react to cause the temperature of the pack to decrease. Always wrap in cloth before applying to bare skin to prevent cold burn. You can read our blog on Cold and Hot Therapy here.

Elasticated pouches are available separately to add compression. Or put it inside a sock and tie around the affected area if you are on the side of a pitch with nothing else to hand. Can remain cold for up to 2 hours depending upon the ambient temperature

Instant Ice Packs are included in all our First Aid Kits.

  • Pros - Compact and stay cold for a whole fight
  • Cons - Can activate if they are under something heavy

I'm a cutman for boxing, and some venues don't allow you to have ice for the fights, so these really come in handy in the kit bag in case we aren't allowed actual ice

Doing a lot of sports unfortunately I get or witness a lot of injuries. I always keep a couple of these in my sports bag. Great for when you are on a sports field with a twisted ankle or broken collar bone and you can't find a bag of peas.

I took a couple of these cold packs with me whilst hiking in the Alps recently. They were very convenient as we were over nighting in a remote mountain hut with no freezer. The packs when applied to my knee were very effective. However they are quite heavy to carry and added unwanted weight to my back pack! I will definitely use them again in a similar situation when I have no access to a bag of frozen peas!
