The Origin of Pro Wrap, the UK's Original Boxing Hand Gauze

Pro Wrap is our very own boxing cotton hand gauze made from 100% cotton and a unique design meaning it has no elasticity in its length but does in its width. However, the story behind the creation of our pro wrap is like no other. In 2009 the late Dean Powell, a boxing trainer who had worked with promoter Frank Warren and several world class fighters such as Lennox Lewis, Joe Calzaghe and Nigel Benn through his three decades in the sport, had just returned from a trip to Bulgaria with Amir Khan. Powell approached Firstaid4sport Owner & Director Michael Davision, with a small piece of gauze bandage which Khan had been using in Bulgaria to wrap his hands after searching throughout the UK for this same bandage. Having received the sample Firstaid4sport began searching and contacted the Bulgarian Embassy to translate the tag attached to the bandage to find where it had been made. After speaking to multiple manufacturers and suppliers there was nothing similar to be found, so this gave us the idea of making it ourselves. The product was finalised, and Pro Wrap was born and now 10 years later it is fully endorsed by the British Boxing Board of Control and heavily used by boxing trainer Joe Gallagher at Gallagher Gym. A number of fighters including World Boxing Association Super World Super Middle Title holder Callum Smith, Commonwealth Gold medallist Callum Johnson and recently retired former WBA Lightweight Champion Anthony Crolla.
